TechDesk (“we”) is made in Nigeria. This policy covers the TechDesk app on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and the web, TechDesk Monitor, and this website. Questions: techdeskapp@gmail.com or WhatsApp +234 807 691 1614.
The short version
- TechDesk works on your own device first. If you never sign in, your sales, repairs, stock and customers stay on that device and never reach us.
- If you sign in to sync, a copy of your shop's records is kept in our cloud database so your other devices can see it. Only your account and the workers you add can read it.
- We don't sell your data, and we don't show you adverts.
- You can delete your account and everything it synced at any time from www.techdesk.space/delete-account.
What we collect, and why
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your shop's records: sales, repairs, products, customers (names, phone numbers, emails you enter), activity log | Always on your device. In our cloud only if you sign in to sync, or connect a branch to a head office | To run your shop, and to keep your devices and branches in step |
| Your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash) | When you create an account | To sign you in, send sign-in codes and the welcome email |
| Head office details: business name, owner name, phone number, email | When you sign up a head office | To run head office and TechDesk Monitor |
| Device details: an install ID, app version, device label, last time it synced | When a device syncs or checks for updates | To show your devices, send update notices, and stop misuse |
| Your device's PIN, plan and expiry date; payment reference, amount and the email you give for the receipt | When you upgrade or pay | To unlock your plan and handle payment problems |
| Voice notes, typed messages and photos of notebook pages you choose to send, and the names of your products (not prices, customers or sales) | Only when you use the assistant | To turn what you said, typed or photographed into actions for you to check |
We count visits to this website — which page, which country, which kind of browser — so we know what people look for. It uses no cookies, and nothing follows you to other websites. We don't use advertising trackers. Workers you add get their own hidden login; they never see your password.
Who we share it with
We use a few companies to run TechDesk. Each gets only what it needs:
- Supabase — our cloud database and sign-in service, where synced records, accounts and head-office data are stored.
- Resend — sends our emails (sign-in codes, welcome emails, updates).
- Flutterwave — takes payments when you buy a plan. We never see or store your card details.
- Google (Gemini) — when you use the assistant, the recording, typed message or notebook photo, and your product names, are sent to Google to understand them. A notebook photo may show whatever is written on that page, such as customer names; send only pages you are happy to share. We use Google's free service, under which Google may use what is sent to improve its products. Your customers, prices and sales are not sent. You're asked before you first use it, and you can simply not use it.
- Google (Gemini), on this website — questions typed into the “Ask about TechDesk” chat that its built-in answers don't cover are sent to Google to answer. We don't store them; we only count how many were asked, so the free daily limit works.
- Vercel and GitHub — host this website, the web app and the download files. Vercel also counts website visits for us, without cookies.
We share information with authorities only when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Synced shop records and accounts: until you delete them or your account.
- Payment records: as long as needed for accounting and to answer payment questions.
- The assistant: we don't store recordings, messages or photos. We keep only a daily count of how many were used, so the free limits work.
- Sign-in codes: a short time, stored only as a scrambled code.
Keeping it safe
Data travels encrypted (HTTPS). In our database, each shop can only read its own records, enforced by the database itself. Passwords and sign-in codes are stored only as hashes. Workers see only the pages the owner allows. No system is perfect: keep your password to yourself and use a screen lock on shared devices.
Your choices and rights
- Use it without an account. Everything works on one device with no sign-in.
- See or correct your data in the app at any time.
- Export it: Settings → Device → Backup.
- Erase it from a device: Settings → Device → Erase all data.
- Delete your account and synced data: www.techdesk.space/delete-account, or ask us.
- Ask what we hold about you, or complain, by emailing techdeskapp@gmail.com. You can also contact the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Your customers' information
When you enter your customers' names and phone numbers, you decide what to keep and why; we store it for you. Please only record what you need to serve them.
Children
TechDesk is a tool for businesses and isn't meant for children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app's “What's new” and update the date above.
